This article will show you what to do if you made a mistake on your UC application.
This is also going to be quite a short article; however, that doesn’t mean it isn’t important. You’ll need to do everything you can to correct any mistakes made on your UC application, as misinformation can make or break your acceptance rate.
Making a mistake on your application is understandable. You’re human! However, you also don’t want to give the admissions officers the impression of academic dishonesty. It’s critical that the admissions officers at the University of California see that you’ve made the necessary corrections to your application by both changing the information and contacting them through email. If by any chance they accept you, then notice that your transcripts do not reflect your submitted grades, you may be subject to academic dishonesty and therefore have your acceptance rescinded.
There are two important things to consider: additional details, and the personal insight questions.
I’ve listed what to do if you’ve made a mistake on each of those sections of your UC application below.

If you have made a mistake on your UC application in any of these parts, you want to contact the support center. This is their email: docs@applyUCsupport.net. When you send them an email, write what exactly you wrote in your application and tell them the mistake. Then, inform them of what the correction should be. You should expect to see a response within 3-5 days. However, we would also advise that you call the University of California application call center. I’ve provided their numbers below.
(800) 207-1710 (within U.S.) or (925) 298-6856 (outside U.S.)

What to do if you messed up your UC PIQ essay
Okay, so there are a few important things to consider here.
Before you get too scared about the consequences of pressing that submit button too fast, consider just exactly how bad your mistake was.
Is this one minor typo? Is it a major mistake in your application essays? Did you miss the opportunity to make your UC PIQ essays much more strong than they could have been when you wrote them in the last minute?
Depending on the severity of your mistake, you will either have to settle for what you have or send the application office an email clarifying your mistake. Typically, we would say that you should send an informed email about your mistake if you would fix one whole paragraph or more. Again, the situation depends on just exactly how bad the mess up was. On one hand, sending an email over one small mistake can be presumptuous and annoying, thus agitating your admissions officers. On the other hand, not sending an email over a big mistake in your UC essay can make or break your acceptance chances.
Of course, because you’re sending an email informing the University of California of your mistake, you want to be professional and clear. You don’t want to have the wrong tone, and you certainly don’t want to come off as someone who is no stranger to making these mistakes. Writing the email with the correct tone is just as important as correcting the mistake itself.
We would suggest speaking with us over a free phone consultation. We can check your UC application mistake, help you draft a response email, and give you the best steps that fit your situation.
If you made a mistake on your UC application, the admissions officers won’t be unsympathetic of you. However, not fixing your problem and not contacting them may jeopardize your acceptance. We will get back to you in 24 hours, and help you with both the corrections and the email drafting!
